When the playbook fails reality.
Enterprise analytics users don't build complex operational queries on a train. Client telemetry revealed analysts spend 4–6 continuous hours in high-density multi-table workspaces. Designing mobile-first had previously caused team paralysis because key analytical relationships couldn't be evaluated on narrow screens.

Input modality & touch maps.
When transitioning from mouse/keyboard to tablet touch, button touch targets were expanded from 32px to a minimum of 44px with comfortable finger padding.
